The beach is a place that takes on a variety of roles. For most, it is a place of beauty and tranquility and a relaxing spot to recline on the sand and read a book or to catch a romantic sunset filled with color. Orange County beaches are adventurous haven where locals and visitors alike can swim, surf, kayak, sail and more.

Corona del Mar Beach

This is easily one of the most exciting beaches in Orange County. Aside from being one of only beaches that still has fire pits, there are plenty of activities to do here. You can spend the afternoon exploring caves, rock climbing and admiring the beauty of Little Corona. This is a small cove that can only be reached from wandering up and above the cliffs. Corona del Mar is also a great spot for little kids to watch the boats go in and out of Newport Harbor. The water here is also calmer, which makes it easier to swim without any big waves.

Aliso Beach

Head further south of Laguna Beach and you’ll find Aliso Beach to escape some of the downtown tourists while also exploring a beautiful part of town. The cliffs wind in and out of the ocean and gives you ample place to seek sea creatures below the water. The water near Aliso Beach is ideal for swimming and surfing as well as skimboarding, paddleboarding and diving. With a concession stand and storefronts, this place has everything you’ll need for a day in the sun.

Crystal Cove

Another area often called one of the prettiest in Orange County is Crystal Cove. This secluded cove is not very easy to access and nearly impossible without paying a full-day parking fee. But it has one of the most stunning displays of coastline in the region. Sunsets are the more colorful here. Somehow, even days that are overcast days offer beautiful scenes of rolling clouds and mist. The backcountry on the cliffs across the highway have miles of hiking trails with panoramic ocean views on top rolling hills. The beach below is home to renovated cottages that are rented out or used for special events such as seaglass wrapping classes or movies on the beach.

Doheny Beach

This is home to the Doheny Surf Festival and seaside music festivals. This beach is known for its flat space among Dana Point’s towering bluffs. This is less populated part of Orange County and offers a nice escape from the crowds of Newport, Laguna and Huntington. This beach is ideal for surfing while paddle boarders and kayakers might also partake in water activities as long as they are south of The Hammer. There are a variety of land activities that guests can partake in too. There are more than one hundred twenty campsites here so make a trip out of it. Various campfire programs also take place in the summertime.
